Software License Recovery

Software license recovery provides a 30-day extension that matches your current valid license in case you lose your license. For example, the licensing enters the recovery mode if there are changes made to hardware or when moving a virtual machine (VM) host server to another host server causes the loss of your software license.

For the software recovery mode to work, your system must have had a valid system license. To avoid interruption to your production system, contact ICONICS to obtain a valid replacement license before the recovery mode expires (after 30 days the license becomes invalid). See Licensing Overview for information.

Key information:

  • The software recovery mode does not support hardware keys or cloud-based licenses.
  • You cannot copy the recovery license to another machine.
  • Killing the current software license using the License Utility does not stop the system from working—it enters into the recovery mode to ensure operability in the production environment when transferring the license from one production machine to another. See Transferring a Software License.

When in software recovery mode, the license status is viewable on the following GENESIS64 tools:

  • Workbench

A warning banner appears at the bottom of the pane. ClosedView image
